The Malieveld in The Hague was transformed into the Shell Generation Discover Festival. Around 12,000 adults and more than 20,000 young visitors had the opportunity to experience in a playful way what technology and science can mean for the future. 

To protect the subsurface of the Malieveld against the many transports that were supplied and removed, more than 2,000 square meters of steel road plates were laid. In addition, walkways in the public area were realized by means of 1,650 square meters of ballast flooring.
